Actually this is more of a gift for my uncle since Alyssa is still pretty young and probably can't appreciate it until she's much older. My cousin, Alyssa is a fairly new addition to our family and a pleasant one. She has adored anything Winnie the Pooh since she was born, as does her mother. She's able to name all the characters and knows them all well. As a bed time ritual she says good night to them from a small painting that's originally a baby shower card I made for her mother the year she was due. Now it's proudly framed and displayed in Alyssa's room along with all her many Winnie the Pooh themed toys and décor. It only has half of the characters so she has always been asking where everyone else was.
With every family get together, picnic, and phone call, my uncle has not failed to mention Alyssa's bed time ritual always requesting I make another painting with all the characters so she can wish them all a good night. She does this every night.
Alyssa is now 4, and I have had plenty of time to think this through. At the end of summer realizing Christmas is as soon as tomorrow I decided it was time to make it happen. With much anxiety, procrastination, sitting, snacks, and a few rough drafts I finished the painting, featuring one extra special character C: I even built the frame, reinforced with a chunk of Kyle's steel file in one of the corner joints(not intended).
Now it is hanging in her room, where her dad can lift her up every night to see it so she can say "good night" to all her best friends C:
