Recently this past October I had the opportunity of being the photographer for my cousin's wedding.
In all my cousins Angela is the most opposite of me, she's always been the one to brighten every Christmas party at grandma's with her loud colorful personality. When I was littler I would always ask when her family would show up, both because I played with her little sister and it was a bit boring without her.
Like every year, grandma wraps a present for everyone and puts a little shiny bow on each. Towards the end of the night all the bows were gathered in a pile on the shaggy orange carpet and Angela, a mature adult, was rolling around in them sticking them all over herself to entertain the rest of us. She wouldn't even have to roll around silly faced in a pile of bows to grab our attention, just her laugh made everyone smile. I'm honored to have been trusted with capturing such a special day in her life.
Honestly this was way out of my experience. And because of that I overcompensated immensely. I wanted every picture captured to be perfect, and I had taken over 900 photos! I narrowed the best down to less than 100. And after a good week of looking them over and making edits I was finally satisfied that I was able to capture at least a handful of special moments they could keep forever.
Now many months later, I can gladly say I did a good job for my first time. I'm actually a bit shocked that I so easily accepted the job, not knowing what I was getting in to but I am glad I did. I learned an enormous amount that will help me in my career and I had the most fun ever at a wedding.
